🍾 Sunday with CPC at Will Rogers

Come spend Sunday with us from 10 am to 2 pm, for three games and a great day of polo. We have a reserved CPC hospitality area for players, sponsors, members, families, and friends. Admission is free!
Catered grazing tables and beverages, including prosecco, wine, and sodas, are $45 per person. Food tickets need to be purchased in advance so our caterer has an accurate headcount.
Prepaid parking, $12 per car. Prepaid guests get a second entrance with parking attendants, so you skip the regular ranger kiosk line. It's much faster, so we strongly encourage buying ahead.
Private restrooms. Thanks to our team sponsors, we're bringing in a four-stall, air-conditioned restroom trailer just for the CPC area.
Purchase parking and food by Venmoing Katty directly and don’t forget to RSVP on Partiful!
Volunteers Needed for Sunday
We need five volunteers for setup and five for breakdown. Setup crew should arrive at 8:30 am, and breakdown crew will help after 2 pm. Please reach out to Katty if you’re free to help out!
Want to Play?
Rates vary depending on whether you own your horse, need a CPC horse, or need a tournament rental, so Katty will send you the details that fit your situation. George Dill tournament rentals are also available.
Please reach out by Wednesday, Sept 23. Katty has to submit all player names to Will Rogers on Wednesday, so if you want to play, including the Pro Pool-type division (B Flight), she needs to hear from you by Tuesday to get you on the list. She'll also work with you on pony matching. 😊
We also have a limited number of grass lessons at Will Rogers for more advanced riders and current chukker players. Contact Katty for availability and rates.
CPC Closed on Sunday September 27th
Sunday, CPC will be closed for activities — no lessons or chukkers, and horse owners will be self-care only. We really want to encourage everyone to come out to Will Rogers on Sunday and support our CPC teams! ❤️🐴
🍻 CPC Potluck This Thursday

Don’t forget our CPC Potluck this coming Thursday!
Bring something to share and stick around after polo to eat, hang out, and spend some time with your CPC family. As always, the more food, the better!Bring something to share and stick around after polo to eat, hang out, and spend some time with your CPC family. As always, the more food, the better!
🐴 More Grass Polo Coming
Grass season isn't over yet. Toward the end of September, we'll send out additional Santa Barbara grass dates for CPC players in October. There's also a 1.5-goal Last Chance Tournament in Santa Barbara the first week of October. If you're interested, let Katty know so we can see who's available and start putting something together.
🍂 October and November Arena Games
We're putting together CPC players and teams for Jared's October and November arena games. There's already interest for a B team and we may have room for more players. If you'd like to play one date or both, let Katty know and we'll start organizing teams.
CPC Argentina: A Few Spots Just Opened

A few spots have opened back up for our CPC trip to Puesto Viejo, November 15-22. If you thought you missed your chance, this may be your opportunity. Players and non-playing guests are welcome. Reach out to Katty for details and availability.
🎬 CPC Is Now on YouTube
We’re excited to launch the California Polo Club YouTube channel! If you’ve noticed us flying drones during chukkers, you can now catch your footage online. We'll be adding videos to help you learn on and off the horse, including polo basics, horsemanship, rules, umpiring, riding tips, and drills, plus some fun CPC moments along the way. Whether you're brand new or have played for years, subscribe and follow along.
🏆 Women's Arena Open and Shady Lady Tournament at OC Polo Club

Two women's tournaments are coming to OC Polo Club, October 13 to 18, 2026: the USPA Women's Arena Open (12 to 16 goals) and the Shady Lady Tournament (4 to 6 goals). The Arena Open pays out $15,000 in prize money this year: $7,500 for first, $4,500 for second, $2,000 for third, and $1,000 for fourth.
We've been asked whether CPC has anyone interested in putting together a team. If you'd like to field one, reach out to Katty!
🐴 Looking for Your Own Polo Pony?
We regularly have horses for sale, and if we don't have the right one at CPC, we can help with the search. We’ll connect you with one of our coaches to help show and evaluate horses so you can find the right fit for your riding and polo goals. Reach out to Katty to start looking.
🤓 Learn More with CPC
Interested in umpiring? We're always looking for players who want to become student umpires. Reach out to Katty and we'll start including you and help you learn the process as you gain experience.
We also have a barn and tacking internship. If you want to learn how to properly tack a polo pony, understand the equipment, and be more independent around the barn, let Katty know and we'll schedule a time to walk you through the basics.
🚨 Housekeeping
A few friendly reminders to keep our horses happy, our riders safe, and polo fun for everyone.
Students may not use a whip or wear spurs on school horses without instructor permission. These are riding aids that require proper technique and should only be introduced when an instructor feels the rider is ready to use them correctly.
When permitted, whips and spurs should be used only as aids to help the horse respond or assist the player in making a play. They must never be used excessively, unnecessarily, or out of frustration. No more than two strokes with the whip may be used at one time, and even a single stroke may be considered excessive if used with unnecessary force.
Proper use of these aids is an important part of good horsemanship and horse welfare.
Mind the mounting area. Please don't hit past the 15-yard line toward the mounting area, especially while riders are getting on or reaching for mallets. Reins may not be organized and feet may not be in the stirrups yet, and horses can react quickly to a ball coming their way. Give everyone a chance to settle first.
Warm up once. Your horse only needs to be warmed up before your first chukker. By chukker two, they're already warm, and conserving energy is especially important for our experienced school horses.
Ask us. If you don't understand a score, a call, or something that happened in a chukker, come talk to your instructor or CPC staff. We're always happy to explain what happened and what to work on next. The same goes for our school horses. They belong to the club, so if something doesn't feel right or you have a question about the horse you're riding, bring it straight to your instructor or CPC staff. We know these horses well, and your feedback is welcome. Newer riders can accidentally give each other conflicting advice, and sometimes a small adjustment in your riding completely changes what you feel from the horse.
Good horse care starts with awareness. Whether you own your horse or ride one of ours, be humble and mindful. Horses respond to our hands, legs, balance, timing, and energy, and to everything around them. Before assuming a horse is doing something wrong, ask why it responded the way it did. Good polo starts with good horsemanship.
Lots of polo, tournaments, travel, and fun coming up!
Thank you to everyone for continuing to look out for our horses, your fellow riders, and CPC. Good horsemanship, good sportsmanship, and taking care of one another are a big part of what makes our club special.
See you at the barn! ❤️
From Katty, and the California Polo Club team
Until next time!
