California Polo Club is hosting the 2025 U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship

The U.S. Arena Open Polo Championship returns to California Polo Club, with the finals set for December 13, 2025. The world’s top players will step into the arena to battle for glory, and a record $100,000 purse.
First played in 1926 when Yale University claimed the inaugural title, the Arena Open has long stood as the pinnacle of arena polo, a championship rich with heritage and history. This year is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, with the potential to welcome as many as 12 teams, aiming to surpass the previous record of nine and set a new milestone for the sport.
Beyond the exciting tournament play, the U.S. Arena Open will feature special activities and events for everyone to enjoy. Spectator tickets will be available for all matches and associated events, so mark your calendars for December 6-13 and invite your friends to join in the experience.
We’ll also be seeking volunteers to help with tournament duties and guest check-in. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out to Katty.

Conveniently close to our venues, it’s about 10–12 miles from California Polo Club and only 2–4 miles from the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.
A special U.S. Open Arena Polo room block is available with a flexible 48-hour cancellation policy until November 13th. Book directly using the link below or mention the group name when calling the hotel.
If you have any questions, please contact Katty.
CPC goes to space with NASA JPL tour 🚀
Thanks to CPC member and resident rocket scientist Shivani Joshi, several lucky club members will have the opportunity to tour NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab on September 26th, from 12-2 PM. Anyone who would like to join the group for lunch nearby afterward is welcome.
If you’re interested in joining the tour, there are 6 spots left - register HERE!
Please be sure to read the details in the Partiful on how to get registered for the tour. Since the JPL is a government facility, they have stringent security policies.
Is it a bird, is it a plane? 🏍️

Last week saw a two-wheeled creature take to the arena as Zinta, Sarah, Ismael, James and Josh rode alongside. Lany and Yas have shoot something special that will be coming out before the end of the year!
A huge thanks to the grooms and players that took part in helping organize and prepare the shoot—keep an eye out for more thrilling photos soon.
California Polo Club class of 2025

🌴🐴 Two weeks ago we headed up to the Santa Barbara Polo Club for the finals of the U.S. Polo Assn. Pacific Coast Open. It was an incredible match, an unforgettable atmosphere, and the best company we could ask for. What a way to close out the Santa Barbara grass season! Those in attendance got to witness live a moment that went semi-viral in the polo world: the ball getting stuck in Santi Torres’ whip!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made the day so special, especially the folks who contributed to the GORGEOUS charcuterie table and helped out with set up and break down. (and shoutout to Jimi Fabrizio for capturing this amazing club photo 📸).
Upcoming: Santa Barbara Polo Club Trip 🌴
Mark your calendars, because we’re headed back up to Santa Barbara Polo Club on September 28 and October 5th. We’re planning these as club field trips, so whether you’re playing or just want to come hang out and watch, it will be a great time for all.
Horse owners will have first priority for trailering spots to play in chukkers. If space allows, we will also set up group lessons with a scrimmage.
Please contact Katty if you’d like to join.
Polo Under the Lights: Pizza Party Night! 🍕
This week’s menu comes with a delicious twist — we’re hosting a Make Your Own Pizza Night! 🍕 We’ll have artisanal dough ready, and you can bring your favorite toppings to share. Please check Partiful for suggested items to bring and confirm your RSVP so we can make sure there’s enough dough and servings for everyone.
Along with pizza, we’ll also have our usual evening chukkers and lessons. Come ride, play, and stay to enjoy pizza fresh from the oven with the CPC community! RSVP with the link above so we can plan enough refreshment for all.
Punctuality Reminder ⏰
We’ve noticed a few recurring late arrivals to lessons and chukkers. Please plan to arrive early so you’re ready to ride on time. Out of fairness to everyone, if you are late, your spot in a chukker may be reassigned and lessons will begin without delay.
If you know you’re running late, please text Katty so we know whether to hold your horse. Keep in mind that you’re still responsible for the lesson or chukker fee, even if you arrive late. In rare cases we may waive part of the charge, but this will be handled at our discretion.
Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly and respectful of everyone’s time.
Housekeeping 🐴🧹
Chukker Attire: Whites are required for chukkers, no beige or off-white pants, please. A strong reminder that face masks or eye protection are mandatory during chukkers or scrimmages. For context a player was hit in the head by a backshot this week, and whilst there was no incident, we remind you that polo has its risks. Safety is non-negotiable.
Mallet Orders: A reminder that for anyone looking to order mallets, now is a great time! Our partner Pablo Medina can advise on grip size, flex point and weight. Pablo will be taking orders for new mallets or repairs through September 27. After that, he’ll be away on vacation until October 25. Pickups can be arranged later since the mallets will be available throughout the fall. Talk to Katty to get set up and place an order.
USPA Membership: We request that all chukker players must be full USPA members with “Regular Player” status. The benefits include secondary medical coverage and $1M in liability insurance. We also encourage all lesson riders to become USPA members in the ‘non-competing’ category. This also provides medical coverage, plus every member helps strengthen our club’s voting power and representation within the USPA. You can join HERE.
From Katty, and the California Polo Club team
Until next time!
