Learn about the history of one of the most prestigious tournaments in polo history.

The world’s top players will step into the arena to battle for glory and a record $100,000 tournament prize purse.
First played in 1926 when Yale University claimed the inaugural title, the Arena Open has long stood as the pinnacle of arena polo, a championship rich with heritage and history. This year is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, with the potential to welcome as many as 12 teams, aiming to surpass the previous record of nine and set a new milestone for the sport.
Beyond the exciting tournament play, the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship will feature special activities and events for everyone to enjoy. Spectator tickets will be available for the finals and will provide access to all other matches, so mark your calendars for December, plan your outfits and invite your friends to join in this incredible polo experience.
If you’ve never seen high goal arena polo, check out the finals from when CPC hosted in 2023.
Call for volunteers, sponsors and vendors at the Open!

Call for volunteers
Hosting an event like the Open is a major undertaking and we could use your help! We’re looking for volunteers for all three tournament days — 12/9 (Quarterfinals), 12/11 (Semifinals), and 12/13 (Finals). Roles include flaggers, timers, set-up and breakdown, player/spectator check-in, an announcer, a scorekeeper, and a few people to help rake the arena footing between drags. Email or DM us what days/times you’re available to help, or RSVP here!
Call for sponsors
We’re also actively looking for product sponsors and team sponsors, so if anyone knows potential partners, please reach out.
Vendor booth opportunities available
We will be offering vendor booth space inside the LAEC Equidome for businesses interested in showcasing their products to Arena Open spectators. Booths include signage placement and space for a table or small tent. More details coming soonMore details coming soon! Send us an email if you’re interested in learning more.
Our charity partner: Polo Players Support Group

As part of hosting the Open, CPC is once again supporting the Polo Players Support Group (PPSG) as our charity partner. We will be hosting a Players Party after the final to raise funds for the group.
The Polo Players Support Group (PPSG) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization that embodies the heart of the polo community, players helping players. PPSG is firmly established and actively engaged in providing financial assistance to seriously injured or ill players and grooms who could otherwise be forgotten.
If you are interested in supporting CPC to help cover the cost of hosting the Open, you can do so through a donation to PPSG; please just make sure to indicate it as earmarked for CPC. We of course encourage donations directly to their cause as well.
Our freshly passed graduates are already playing in tournaments… and winning.

Last weekend, Ryan and Jack, both new graduates into coaching chukkers, were backed up by veteran player Josh in the Hattrick Polo Arena Series, hosted at Arho Polo Farm. The team won their first game and advanced to the finals, where they were narrowly beaten by AK Performance horses, but walked away with two awards: Josh won MVP, and CPC pony Pirata (played by Ryan) won Best Playing Pony. Congrats team!

Your next step in polo: USPA Membership ✅
As you grow in your polo journey at CPC, joining the United States Polo Association (USPA) is an exciting milestone. Here’s how it works:
Lesson Riders → Non-Competing Membership
Perfect for players in lessons who are learning the sport but not yet in competitive chukkers. This level gives you USPA insurance coverage, connects you with the wider polo community, and is a great way to step into the world of polo.
Chukker Riders → Full Membership
Once you’re ready for chukkers, you’ll need a Full USPA Membership. The pace and contact are much higher, and with that comes different liability. Full membership ensures you’re covered and opens the door to official USPA chukkers and tournaments.
When you join, please remember to list California Polo Club as your host club. This directly strengthens CPC by giving us voting power within the USPA and additional funding support — every member truly makes a difference. 🗳 Join HERE.
Housekeeping 🐴🧹
Chukker Attire: Whites are required for chukkers, no beige or off-white pants, please. A strong reminder that face masks or eye protection are mandatory during chukkers or scrimmages. For context a player was hit in the head by a backshot this week, and whilst there was no incident, we remind you that polo has its risks. Safety is non-negotiable.
From Katty, and the California Polo Club team
Until next time!
